2026 CWVFF COMPOSER COMPETITION

The Christian Worldview Film Festival is pleased to host the Film Scoring Competition once again! We recognize the important role that music plays in a film and the power it can have to enhance the dramatic tone of each scene. We desire to encourage music composers by offering the unique opportunity to compete, by scoring a scene from a professional feature film.

This is a great outlet to hone your composer skills and get your work in front of many Christian filmmakers and film enthusiasts.

This year, participants will be creating music for a 6 minutes and 41 seconds long clip from the film Sabina: Tortured for Christ - The Nazi Years. Disclaimer: This film is rated PG-13.

This year’s spotting notes are provided by a festival staff member with over ten years of experience in composing. The spotting notes are intentionally basic as we want to hear your original compositional voice and vision for this film clip.

Terms and Agreements

Finished music will need to be submitted as a single high-resolution audio file (WAV or AIFF, 24-bit, 48 kHz).

Each score must be original and cannot contain any copyrighted material. In other words, it needs to be your own work specifically composed for the purpose of this competition and cannot contain copyrighted samples or content from other original works. The score cannot have lyrics or vocal tracks as in the case with songwriting. In other words we don’t want you to send in a song. A score is original instrumental music written specifically for a movie, and a soundtrack is a compilation of songs written for a film or pre-licensed songs that are featured in a film. However, instrumental music with a choral ensemble is allowed.

By participating in this competition you agree to not post the film clip anywhere on the Web. The film clip you will be working with is copyrighted and is being made available to you by permission for the express purpose of this competition. Those who do not follow these instructions will be disqualified from the competition.

Deciding to participate in the competition, you agree to issue a perpetual license for the score to be used in the film, and for promotional purposes in connection with the film or the competition. Apart from the above, you will retain full copyright of the music both as writer and publisher.

The top finalists will be shown at the 2026 Christian Worldview Film Festival being held in March, 2026 at Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia. The composer of the winning score and runner-up will be recognized at the Festival’s awards ceremony and will win a monetary prize as well as the festival’s glass trophy. All participants who submit their scores on time will receive feedback from our judges. Your final musical score must be submitted per the instructions outlined in the email no later than July 31st, 2026 at 11:59PM EST - All late entries will be disqualified.
